1. What We Process

Image files

When you upload an image for conversion, AVIF Tools receives and temporarily processes that file on our servers. The image content is used solely to perform the conversion. We do not analyze, read, index, or use the content of your images for any other purpose.

• The original uploaded file is deleted immediately once conversion is complete.
• The converted output file is stored temporarily and deleted automatically after 1 hour.
• Images may contain EXIF metadata (camera settings, GPS data, timestamps). This metadata is processed only as part of the conversion and is not separately extracted or stored.

Conversion logs and statistics

AVIF Tools logs technical data about each conversion for operational purposes and service statistics. This is distinct from the image content, which is not retained. The data logged includes:

• IP address of the request
• Original filename
• Source format (e.g. JPEG, PNG, WebP)
• Destination format (e.g. AVIF, JPG, PNG)

This information is used to maintain service logs and generate aggregate statistics about the types of conversions performed on AVIF Tools. IP addresses are considered personal data under the GDPR.

Technical session data

• Session identifier: A temporary session cookie is used to associate your uploads with your download session.
• Browser and device information: Standard web server logs may include browser type, operating system, and referring URL.

What we do not collect

• No account registration is required to use AVIF Tools.
• We do not collect your name, email address, or any other identifying information voluntarily provided, unless you contact us directly.
• Original uploaded images are deleted immediately after conversion, and converted files are automatically deleted after 1 hour.
• We do not use image content for training, analysis, or any purpose beyond performing the requested conversion.

2. File Handling and Deletion

AVIF Tools is designed to minimise the time your files remain on our servers.

Deletion is automatic and cannot be stopped or extended. If you do not download your converted file within 1 hour, it will no longer be available. We recommend downloading your results promptly.

Each upload is assigned a unique, randomly generated session identifier. Uploaded files are stored in an isolated temporary directory that is inaccessible to other users.

3. Server Location and Data Storage

Image processing and temporary file storage for AVIF Tools take place on servers located in France, within the European Union.

This means that any image file you upload, and the associated conversion logs, are processed and temporarily stored within the EU.

If you access AVIF Tools from outside the European Union, your files will be transferred to and processed on these EU-based servers in order to perform the conversion.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Essential cookies

• Session cookie: Used to associate your uploaded files with your conversion session so that the correct converted file can be served for download. This cookie is temporary and expires when you close your browser or after your session ends.

Analytics

• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use AVIF Tools. Data collected by Google Analytics is anonymized and used in aggregate form. Google's data collection is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Advertising

• Google AdSense: AVIF Tools displays advertisements via Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can manage personalized advertising preferences at Google Ads Settings.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling the session cookie may affect the ability to download converted files.

• Isolated storage: Uploaded files are stored in temporary directories with randomly generated identifiers, inaccessible to other users.
• Automatic deletion: Original files are deleted immediately after conversion; converted files are deleted after 1 hour.

If you are located in the European Union, you have the following rights under the GDPR regarding personal data we hold about you:

• Right of access: Request information about personal data we hold about you (such as IP address logs associated with your conversions).
• Right to erasure: Request deletion of personal data we hold. Note that uploaded image files are deleted automatically as described above.
• Right to object: Object to the processing of your personal data.
• Right to data portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a structured format.
• Right to lodge a complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in the EU member state where you reside or work.
